Snorkeling at Monkey Pt.

Yellow Tail Snappers

Finally able to send some updates

We are moored in front of Sydney's Peace and Love, where we had a wonderful dinner in a perfect setting.

The honor bar was a treat, for dinner some of us had the fresh lobster while others had the BBQ.

Everyone was very happy with their meal.

Sunset from Cooper Island

That is Tortola BVI on right and St John USVI on left in the distance.

The crew just before we depart on our trip

Pretty sailboat

Sunset on Sunday night

Got a few nice shots of the sunset
I liked the dark shadow created by the cloud

Sunset with Ursula's camera

I like the composition on this one.
It isn't always good to have a 300mm lens on the camera.
I will look for a deal on lens when I get back.

Took shot from under waterfall in pool

First Day in ST Thomas

Well the post from yesterday failed so here goes a 2 day post.
Charlotte Amalie
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Amalie,_United_States_Virgin_Islands
Yesterday started off with a nice breakfast where the very helpful Ann gave us some tips on how to shop and get around in town.
First of all the Safari Taxi is the best way, 1 buck per person no matter how far.
Worth double, as the ride is like riding the Raging Bull at Great America.
No seat belts, and to get off push the doorbell buzzer over your head.
Rode into town checked out Yacht Haven Grande.

lots of mega yachts in town, Tatoosh seems to be the center piece this week.

Big boats, Big money

Went shopping in Havensight.
Liquor is one of the best buys; selection and prices are among the very best in the area. Fragrance and jewelry are also excellent values in St. Thomas. U. S. residents age 21 and older may bring back five fifths of liquor (AND a sixth if it is produced in the USVI; local rums are always a hit). U.S. residents can also bring home five cartons of cigarettes and 100 cigars from the USVI for a total of $1,200 worth of duty-free imports every 30 days. Family members can make a joint declaration.
Main Street is crowded with store after store, but take the time to sort out the shops and find what you are looking for. Many Main Street shops have sister shops in the Havensight Mall. For fragrance and liquor, jewelry and crystal, pearls and watches you can select from literally dozens of shops. Among the most popular are Cardow (www.cardow.com, 340-776-7440), Little Switzerland (www.littleswitzerland.com, 340-776-2010) and Diamonds International (www.diamondsinternational.net, 340-774-1516).
Except for one thing.
most stores are closed on Sundays and when there are no cruise ships in town.
there can be up to 10 at a time!

Took the Safari back to the hotel to go swimming in the ocean.
rented a paddle boat for exercise.

Arrived in St Thomas USVI

Low of 78 high of 85!

Every day!

Now that’s what I call nice weather.

Now, it might rain once per week for half a day, but wow that’s nice.

No time for pics tonight.

Checked into hotel and already had our first rum drinks.

Cuba Libra for me and Strawberry Daiquiri for Ursula.

Both made with Cruzan, a local USVI rum.

Not bad.

We have arrived in Miami

Apparently the air conditioning doesn’t work in the airport. Thought I would post this while waiting for the flight to St Thomas. We hope to be on the plane in about an hour.

The trip is a success so far. Only 1 crying baby for about 10 minutes on plane.

I will post pictures later tonight

Buick Riviera Concept Car from Chicago Auto Show

Really the best looking concept car in the entire building. Cadillac CTX Coupe was cool looking as was the new Audi R8!

Of course the Porsche and Mercedes cars were our favorites. I liked the G Wagon! Lots of head room!

Toyota has a nice lineup of trucks but they are built for the "one size fits most" category of drivers. I am, of course in the 2% of the population over 6'4" so headroom is an issue. And there isn't enough in a Toyota.
